Lemonade
  1. Measure the sugar into a large saucepan and stir in 3 cups of sugar. Heat over a medium-high temperature, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in the salt, lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of zest. (Save the remaining lemon zest to add flavor to your foods – it will keep in the fridge for a week or so.)
  3. Now add the remaining 5 cups of water.
  4. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Sangria
  1. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the lemonade, wine, and rum. Stir together thoroughly.
  2. Now add the fruit, stirring gently. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  3. Serve by spooning some fruit into each glass, then pouring the sangria over.
